About netv
A real internet speed test, built to be honest about what it measures.
What it does
netv measures your connection's ping, jitter, download bandwidth, and upload bandwidth using real, live HTTP requests — the same measurement approach used by speedtest.net and fast.com, just running against Cloudflare's public edge network via @cloudflare/speedtest. Nothing here is a simulated number or a scripted animation of results — the numbers you see come directly from timing real network transfers.
Peak vs. sustained
Many ISPs run a short speed "burst" for the first 10-20 seconds of a transfer, well above your actual plan rate, before settling down. netv runs long enough per direction to see past that, and reports both figures: Peak (the highest short-window rate observed) and Sustained (the average of samples that ran long enough to be past a typical burst window) — so you can see the difference instead of just the flattering number.
What the globe shows
The 3D globe plots two real points: the actual Cloudflare edge datacenter your test was routed to (detected via Cloudflare's trace endpoint), and your own location — from your device's GPS if you grant permission, or approximated from your IP address if you don't. There's no scripted tour of fictional servers.
Provider, IP, and history
The "Provider" and "Your IP" fields come from a public IP-geolocation lookup, done fresh on every visit. Test history is not keyed to your IP address — IP addresses are frequently shared (CGNAT, shared Wi-Fi) and change over time, so they're a poor way to identify "you" across visits. Instead, history is tied to your signed-in account (Google or email/password) if you sign in, or to a random id generated once and stored only in your own browser if you don't.
